The price includes a two-day class with lunch each day, use of our tools and equipment, and all materials except glass. We have an extensive selection of glass and your cost is usually $15 – 40, depending on size and your choice of glass.

About the Class

This two-day class will teach you all the basics of stained glass while creating a unique design of your choice. The low student-teacher ratio ensures that you receive extensive one-on-one attention

Class begins with collaboration with Barney on your design. You may come with a general idea of what you want to create, or a completely blank slate. Barney will translate your idea into a stained glass design of 20 pieces or less. This maximum number of pieces is the only restriction necessary for our two-day time frame. While Barney is drawing your design, you will choose your glass. Next is a short tutorial on the art of cutting glass, using scrap glass before we cut into your selected glass. By lunchtime we will have done 1-2 pieces of your pattern, getting into the rhythm of cutting and fitting.

Lunch is provided for you, delicious and homemade, served waterside. Then back for our afternoon session. We continue to cut, fit and foil each piece of glass, seeing your design begin to take shape. By the end of the day, you will have up to 2/3 of your pieces in place.

On the second day, we finish all the pieces by mid-day (usually before lunch). Then to soldering both sides of your panel. When the first side is soldered, you get a short break while Barney frames it with a rigid metal frame, to make it structurally sound, with brass hangers if desired. After soldering is done, the finishing touches are applied and you can step back and admire your accomplishment!

If you wish to enjoy the full experience and eliminate the drive back and forth each day, you are welcome to stay at our on-site B&B. See website www.zekiahglass.com for pricing details.
